Taste Our award-winning Thai Cuisine in Bangkok

Our Thai restaurant in Thonglor began with a vision and an inspiration. The vision was the result of the collaboration between co-owners Chef Chumpol and gourmet Piti Bhirombhakdi.

The inspiration came from an ancient Thai proverb that states: ‘‘Nai nam mee pla, nai na mee kao” (There is fish in the water and rice in the fields). Together, the vision and inspiration resulted in R-Haan, a restaurant that serves authentic Thai cuisine in Bangkok. But the word ‘authentic’ doesn’t really do justice to the cuisine that’s become world-famous.

This is a cuisine that uses ancient Royal Thai dishes as a basis for its entire menu. The creative and talented chef Chumpol uses the original ingredients and spices but prepares the dishes using modern preparation and presentation techniques. This novel approach to the traditional cuisine of Thailand has established R-Haan as one of the stars of the Bangkok culinary scene. And the stellar reputation of R-Haan is spreading all over the world.

2018-2019 Awards of R-Haan

The vision and inspiration of the two people behind R-Haan, as well as the dedication and impeccable work of the staff and kitchen of our Thai restaurant in Bangkok, began to be noticed by the world outside of Thailand when The Michelin Guide saw fit to award R-Haan with a Michelin star in 2018.

In 2019, we were honoured as well by both the Thailand Tatler magazine and the Bangkok Best Dining & Entertainment magazine.

The Tatler magazine presented the award of R-Haan being one of the top 20 restaurants in Bangkok at an awards event held at the Zen Gallery in CentralWorld in which chef Chumpol created a Massaman Beef Pot Pie. The dish stunned the organisers and gourmets who attended the event.

The 21st Best Restaurant Awards, hosted by the Bangkok Best Dining & Entertainment magazine awarded R-Haan with the Best Thai Restaurant for 2019. R-Haan was facing competition from over 280 restaurants, and we were truly honoured for being chosen for the award.

Late in 2019, saw another reason to rejoice throughout our Thai restaurant in Thonglor when we were informed that the Michelin Guide had awarded us another Michelin star. With only two Thai restaurants in the world owning the coveted two-star rating from the Michelin Guide, we were both proud and grateful for the performances of everyone at R-Haan.

Today, we feel a great responsibility to maintain the world-class standards that a two-star rating from the Michelin Guide represents. This means that we will continue to build on our reputation and the preparation and presentation techniques we have learned during our time at R-Haan.

We will continue to explore all the wonderful ingredients of Thailand and continue to introduce our new versions of the traditional Royal Thai dishes of the past. As the seasons change, we are always finding new methods of preparation and unique ingredients to include in our seasonal menus.
